The Birth Story

I woke up that morning having contractions that were more painful than usual but nothing consistent and still about 10 minutes apart. Around 11 or so we decided to go for a walk to see if it helped and then the contractions were every 2 minutes! I couldn't handle them anymore so we turned around after 20 minutes. Sadly when we got home they stopped for a while and then were sporadic again. Mason had an orthodontist appointment at 1 so I decided we should still go, lol. We went to the appt. and I was having contractions there as well, but less when I was sitting. I barely heard a word the Dr. said, haha. We went home and I had a feeling I should pack a bag for Avery so I did, oh and I also packed MY bag since I still had yet to do that. By 2:30 I was in too much pain during the contractions that I knew we should go but was having serious doubts as to whether or not I was really in labor. We left anyways and dropped the kids off at the Williams. We got to the hospital at 3:15 and checked in. Again, standing made them come fast and sitting slowed them down. We registered and they wheeled me back to the triage room. I got changed and went over my history with the nurse, the whole time thinking she was going to check me and send me home because I wasn't having contractions laying there in the bed! She finally did check me about 3:40 and guess what, I was 7 cm dilated and 90% effaced!! I was so shocked and so was she, lol. They hurried and got a room ready and I decided to get the epidural. They didn't get the epidural in until 4:30. I don't think it ever worked though because 10 minutes later the contractions were still full force(I'm not sure if I even had a contraction during that 10 minutes, I probably didn't). The nurse checked me again and I was 8-9 and my water broke. She called Dr. Preddy at 5, started prepping and he showed up at 5:10. He got set up told me to push and out she came!! That fast! Just one push and she was here at 5:13! Such an easy delivery(minus the epi. not working, I was really looking forward to it, haha). We were just so amazed at how TINY she was! And her perfectly round head. She was the cutest thing ever(besides my other 2 of course). They cleaned her off and gave her back to me and I nursed her. She is just so precious!
