Livy had her surgery early Thursday morning and so far everything is great! It was quite nerve wrecking to have her go under general anesthesia and not knowing how she would react! We decided to stay at a hotel Wednesday night because we had to be in San Antonio by 7 AM for the surgery. Driving that early in the morning with a starving and tired baby did NOT sound like fun, lol. Livy did pretty good with the no eating. I woke her up at 11:30 for a last feed before midnight. Then she woke up at 1. Then at 1:30. Then 3. All of the times I got her back to sleep pretty quick by laying her on my chest and rubbing her back. Then 4 AM rolls around and she wasn't having any more of that, she was hungry! I got up and paced the floors for over an hour. Then I handed her over to Scott who got her to sleep fairly quickly seeing as how he didn't have the smell of milk to entice her/make her mad! I was able to get a few more minutes of sleep then we were up at 6 and out the door soon after.
We got her checked in at 7 but didn't get called back til about 8:30, they were running behind. There were at least 3 other babies there that we saw getting the same procedure done which did a lot to calm some of my nerves(until I saw the other moms crying :P ). The nurses were great and after they got her all ready one of the nurses just took Livy for a walk back to the OR. About 10 minutes after surgery was started 2 nurses came walking into the waiting room. It made my heart stop for a minute!! I thought for sure something had gone wrong because I knew it was a 30 minute procedure! Turns out she had chalazions on both her upper and lower left eyelids that he was asking if we wanted removed. If they weren't removed they would eventually end up growing and she would need surgery again so of course we said yes!
She got out of surgery and was in the PACU for about 10 minutes before we went in. She was awake and crying so I hurried and nursed he and we stayed for about 30 minutes before being released! By the time we got to the car she was smiling and her happy self again. She was such an angel the WHOLE time!
As far as recovery, both of her eyes were clogged pretty bad. He did push a probe down the ducts to unblock them, then also her left eye he made 2 incisions to remove the chalazions, but since they are inside her eyelid there are no stitches. We went back up Friday morning for a follow up. For now we are doing eye drops 4 times a day as well as a ointment in her left eye for 2 weeks. We will head back up to the doctor then and stop all treatment and hope and pray her eyes are healed! If not there is a possibility of having to have tubes put in the tear ducts to keep them open, but we aren't worrying about that yet. So far she just has a lot of tearing still and discharge from her left eye but this is all normal for about a week after surgery. Anyways, I will update ya'll again when I get a chance! Hopefully there will be nothing exciting to report, lol.

Hooray! I'm so glad everything went well. Sorry about the hard night with no feedings, but at least she bounced back quickly after the surgery.
So glad everything went well! Hope everything heals as it should and she won't have to have any more procedures! We still can't wait to meet her this summer!
